For more than 32 years, Dave Knowland served as an airline pilot with Air Canada. Starting as a Flight Engineer on the Douglas DC-8, he has flown almost every type aircraft including The L1011 Tristar, B727 “Three Holer”, The Queen of the Skies B747 Classic, all of the Airbus Series, Boeing 777, and B767-300, among many others. Additionally, Dave flew an air ambulance for 10 years, in North America, South America, and Europe.
Dave holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Statistics, and Business as well as an ATP license and Canadian ATP license. Through his professional career, he has gained extensive cold weather flying experience with operations into airports where runways were contaminated with ice and snow.
As Line Captain and Director of Safety, Dave is responsible for the safe conduct of all flying operations, as well as ground facilities. He represents the safety face of the company to air travel risk management organizations such as Wyvern, AR/GUS, and ISBAO, as well as the company’s vendors, clients, regulators, and insurers.
