In his role as General Counsel, Robert Hanaford oversees all outside legal services and provides counsel to the corporate officers and directors at Elite Jets on legal and regulatory matters ranging from contracts, employment, aviation, workers compensation, insurance and governmental relations.
Robert earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Law Enforcement Administration and his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Western Illinois University. He holds a Juris Doctorate from Drake University Law School. Additionally, he attended Chicago Kent College of Law, where he studied tax law and became a licensed attorney in Florida, Illinois, and Wisconsin.
Robert’s extensive professional experience includes trial practice involving transportation and construction accidents, insurance coverage, contract disputes, fraudulent transactions, criminal defense, and police liability. He holds various professional appointments including appointment by the Governor of Illinois to the Illinois Workers Compensation Review Board, the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association Legal Advisory Panel, Legal Counsel to the Chicago Executive Pilots Association, and most recently, the Aviation Law Committee of The Florida Bar for 2020-2021.
One of Robert’s greatest career highlights includes serving as Continuing Legal Education Coordinator for the Illinois State Bar Association, where for more than 20 years, he organized and spoke at trial practice seminars throughout the state with attorneys and judges.
