At Elite Jets, we believe that luxury should serve a greater purpose. And during this year’s Southwest Florida Wine & Food Fest, that purpose took flight - literally.
As part of Elite’s commitment to supporting causes that make a difference, the private aviation company donated an exclusive private helicopter tour for the 2025 Wine Fest’s live auction. The cause? Raising critical funds for Golisano Children’s Hospital of SWFL, the only dedicated children’s surgical hospital between Tampa and Miami. The lucky winning bidders didn’t just take to the skies - they helped uplift the future of families and children across our region.
From the moment the rotor blades began to spin, passengers knew they were in for something unforgettable. Their experience soared beyond just beautiful views.
“It was very nice of Elite Jets to donate that ride,” said winning bidder Karen Medford, who enjoyed the ride with another couple. “My friend Kathy and I were looking for something different, and when we saw it come up for auction at the Fest, she suggested we do it! We are happy to support the Festival auction, as all of the proceeds go to Golisano Children’s Hospital.”
Their pilot, Joe Fragione, a 38 -year veteran helicopter pilot with deep roots in the region, made the ride even more memorable.
“One of the most unique ways to experience Southwest Florida is from the sky,” Joe shared. “If they want to see their house or favorite spot and it's on the route, I’ll point it out. From Estero Bay to Sanibel, Pine Island to Matlacha—each area tells a story, especially after Hurricane Ian.”
Guests marveled at panoramic views of Sanibel Island, the lighthouse, Marco Island, and even the boats and shoreline still bearing the marks of Hurricane Ian.
“Joe was beyond awesome—kind, informative, and made us feel completely safe,” said Kathy Moock. “He answered all our questions and gave us such a rich, engaging tour. It was really an enjoyable evening.”
Joe, who also guided them past areas where boats had to be lifted by helicopter during the hurricane recovery, says he always aims to give passengers more than just a scenic ride.
“There’s a lot of history and resilience here,” Joe explained. “I point out how the fishing communities are rebuilding, how the beaches are being restored with sand pumped in from the Gulf. It’s not just sightseeing—it’s storytelling from above.”
After landing safely back in Naples , the journey continued on the ground with a gourmet dinner at Sails Restaurant. The evening ended as it began—with luxury, meaning, and connection.
When asked if they’d recommend the helicopter experience to others, the answer was simple:
“Absolutely do it. It was amazing. One of the things they offer is the ability to land on Sanibel and explore—so cool. For a first-time experience, it couldn’t have been better. It was just flawless!”, said the guests.
At Elite Jets, we’re honored to support events that reflect the spirit of Southwest Florida—generosity, adventure, and community. Whether soaring above barrier islands or sharing a fine meal below, this was an experience that gave back in more ways than one.
