Naples, FL – June 12, 2025 – A recent independent survey reveals overwhelming community support for Naples Municipal Airport (KAPF), highlighting its importance to the region’s economy and infrastructure. The survey, conducted via phone and text with nearly 1,500 randomly selected residents of Naples and Collier County, found that more than 80% of respondents view the airport as an essential part of the community.
Despite occasional discussions about relocating the airport, 63% of Naples residents and 61% of county residents believe the airport should remain in its current location.
"The numbers speak for themselves," said Stephen J. Myers, Executive Vice President of Elite Jets. "More than 80% of Naples residents recognize the airport’s importance to our community. That kind of support is not just encouraging — it’s a mandate for us to continue being good stewards of this vital asset."
The survey also uncovered that many residents were unaware the airport operates without local tax funding and that the FAA, not the airport, controls flight routing. When this information was shared, positive impressions of the airport jumped to nearly 83% in Naples and over 90% in the surrounding county.
"Once informed, support deepened," added Myers. "This tells us that our ongoing efforts toward transparency and community education are working, and we will continue to build on that trust."
With a $781 million annual economic impact, Naples Municipal Airport plays a vital role in supporting jobs, tourism, business travel, and emergency services across Southwest Florida.
